Recently, I decided I wanted to try and make icons. I got the idea to make them out of pictures of Giant Microbes. I was first introduced to these by my biologist father, and since then I've amassed a small collection. They're rather adorable, and they aren't too complicated, so I thought it'd be a good thing to start with. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! If you want to use one, please credit [ profile] speaky_bean for good karma.

They are so pretty, all of them!
#03 looks very intriguing… especially considering the disease it causes. And the Fat Cell reminds me of a little Totoro.
I'll take one of these with a proper credit — just can't decide right now, which one xD

Awesome, I'd love it if you used one! It is quite hard to decide, which is why I've yet to upload one myself. I'm glad you enjoy them! And yes, the fat cell does look quite like Totoro!

I love them too. I have the flu one, the chicken pox one, the TB one, and the Ebola one. I need to acquire a few more. XD;

I'm just surprised at how many there are! I WILL NEVER HAVE ENOUGH MONEY FOR THEM ALL ;A;

I know, that's the painful part. I would buy them all if I could, but such a thing is not possible, alas.

The giardia one looks really cool.

I need to hug my malaria more often.

Yeah--my poor Chicken Pox is sitting alone of my shelf with no one to talk to. TB got a little more use due to being the subject of my project.

Omg, awesome icons. I have had a close encounter with one of the sperm. If I ever end up with excess money I would love to buy all of them, put them in a big pile and jump into it. /weird

Oh my god, that's just an awesome picture. XD; And yeah, that isn't an unreasonable thing to want--I wouldn't mind a plushie pile myself.

microbes are totes kawaii

My favorites are the ants, and whatever 46, 25, 7, 67, 24, 78, and 52 are. 8D /too lazy to find them all in the link

Also 15 is kind of creepy-looking. 8C;;

Your icon is rather cute itself!

Lol, you seem to like all the ones I was considering not doing--I didn't think at first that I should do the insects/not-germs, as some of them aren't actually microbes, but I decided to do all of them (except one because it required more iconning skills than I have) to appeal to all tastes. So, good thing I did!

15, I actually own. I like it because it looks like a chicken. XD; It's less creepy in actual plushie form, methinks.

I figured I ought to have a tag for all my medical-fangirling type posts, since I have rather a lot of those. Glad you like it, and glad you like the icons!

The Ebola one was the first one I got (thus the username), and then I got a few others. But I gave them all away.

One of the museums in Houston sells them, and I'll probably buy another when I go again. I've been eyeing Gangrene for the longest time. Actually, I'd probably want to get all of the Clostridium species it has.

And your user name was what first made me want to talk to you! XD; I love the ebola one--I wore mine as a bracelet for a while way back when.

Gangrene is a fun one--any particular reason for the fascination with clostridium?

Excellent! Um...can I ask how you found this? I didn't advertise anywhere, so I'm just wondering. I'm glad you enjoyed them though! #60 is one of my personal favorites too. :D
