Thank you very much! I thought it was in character as well, but a lot of people seemed to interpret it as me turning this into some kind of creepy love triangle. Involving Light and his mom in the same love triangle is just a tad too squicky for my tastes, and anyway I'm not a big fan of L/Light.

And thank you so much for your point about the contrast--L is the one under suspicion now. I didn't even think of that, but it's something I might be able to use in the future, so yeah, thanks for that. I very much appreciated your comment.
