It's not that I don't like Light, he's actually one of my favorite characters. I just feel like pairing him with anyone in a non-manipulative manner is often OOC. I don't think Light is capable of loving someone. Even pre-Kira, it seems that he still chooses his relationships based on personal gain. I think he's probably asexual, but he uses his sex appeal to get his way. L on the other hand, represses his sexuality for the sake of his job, which takes over his life. If it were to come out at all, I think it'd come out in totally inappropriate ways...part of my justification for this pairing. I CAN see L falling for Light, but not the other way around.
And that does sound interesting! I've never understood the ones that were set during the BB case...I've never read the book, so maybe canon was changed, but in the anime, and I think the manga, Naomi says she'd never met L in person. I'm not sure how it'd work after Raye's death...I guess Light failed to kill her?
