I wrote one of these about Mikami a while back, and the end of his was very depressing as well--nobody really gets a happy ending in canon, so it's hard not to structure it that way!
Mothers can be very observant! She's been observing Light closely all his life, I'm sure she can tell if something's off. And while I don't think Misa is stupid, she isn't as smart as Light, and they probably can't really have decent conversations. Sachiko would have to see that. D: And Sayu...I'm sure she totally loves Sayu, but Light is easier to be proud of.
