Yeah, there are a lot of things in Death Note that have the potential to be really interesting but aren't looked at very closely, which I think is why it's had such a big fandom--there's s much to play with! Anyway I'm glad you thought it worked. I was a bit weird with the narration style at first, mostly using 'we' and only having vague details about the narrator himself isn't my usual thing.
