Oh, this is great! I never thought of the fact that Near's physical growth might be actually stunted, but it makes sense. I thought you wrote him really well, the cold and rational line of thinking along with the little insecurities. I especially loved the comparisons between him and L and the thoughts on Mr. Wammy/Watari.
And for some reason, yes, I always imagine Near's parents as being murdered, too.
