Hey guys. I figured it'd be a good plan to put my FST up in a non-friends-locked place, since most of the people I want to show it to can't actually access it being where it is. Anyway, this is my very first FST, and it's a Sachiko/Soichiro one. A bit of fandom penance for my Sachiko/L fanfic, I suppose. I should probably try a Fruits Basket one next, awesome as Death Note may be. Each song has a little drabble attached to it, so I hope you'll have fun reading those, and maybe you can snag yourself some good music!

Summer Of 69 - Bryan Adams
'Standin on your mama's porch
You told me that you'd wait forever
Oh and when you held my hand
I knew that it was now or never
Those were the best days of my life'
She sits watching her boyfriend be ridiculous, playing an impossibly bad solo on his dysfunctional guitar. He's singing sap in hopes of screwing her, it's sweet and she's giggling, Soichiro's crazy if he thinks she needs convincing. "You have no idea how to play that thing," she says, wrapping legs around his waist in front of everyone. All his friends, all her friends, they're at a party making out. Showing off, okay. They're insane, this is great, the drunken hoarde's joined in on the singing.
"Sachiko," Soichiro says, stopping the guitar for a second, grabbing her hand. "Sachiko, darling sweetie baby, will you marry me?"
She throws her head back, laughs and says of course of course but he is so drunk, he's never going to remember this but yes. The bar breaks out in hallelujahs, the air is thick with the joy of the future and the vague, nagging knowledge that it will never get better than this.
The Hardest Part - Ryan Adams
'And that ain't the hardest part
The hardest part is loving somebody that cares for you'
Work takes it out of him. It's hard to come home every night, bones aching and consciousness scarred. Hard to see that sweetness sitting on his couch, in his bed, in his arms every night and god she's perfect. And she loves him, says so every time he doubts humanity, the existence of love in the world.
Work brings screaming terror into a life that was once peaceful, but it's easier out there than with the warmth of her. He will taint her with the things he knows, and when the baby comes he'll taint him too. Sachiko needs him here and he can't be.
Whatever You Want - Vienna Teng
'Never a real moment together,
But she understands; you're an important man
Another late night,
Don't know if you're coming home or when
She's alone again'
Sachiko sits reading endless stories to the children, it's late and she's tired but they're staying up to wait for Daddy. They can't be talked out of it, they haven't seen him in days and she's sensed his presence for mere moments in bed. He is not home, he has priorities and obligations that do not involve the woman he loves or the children he brought into the world. They don't understand and she does, she bows her head and tries to tell her babies that they just don't mean as much as the rest of the world.
Underneath Your Clothes - Shakira
'Underneath your clothes
There's an endless story
There's the man I chose
There's my territory
And all the things I deserve
For being such a good girl'
It's night and it's dark and the children are sleeping, Soichiro's home for once and Sachi's sexed-up, wanting it and wanting him and wanting him inside her. She pulls him in, wraps her legs around his waist and attacks him, sinks her tongue into his face. "I love you," she says when she breaks for air, and he agrees, says yes he loves her too and it's wonderful to finally have time for her. "It doesn't matter," she says, "don't talk about work, don't talk about time, just focus on what's happening right now." She kisses him again, soaks him into her skin and tears his shirt off. "I deserve this after waiting so long. Let's make some more beautiful genius babies together."
She's Not Innocent - Antigone Rising
'But she's fine, and she's not innocent
She's cool in all her discontent
She knows it's always been the same'
He's still not home and she's expecting it, she doesn't care. It's been so long she wouldn't know what to say to him, she's used to solitude and silence late at night. In her head she lives all by herself, the kids are here but they're quiet. They keep to themselves now that they're older. They'll leave soon enough and then she'll never see a soul but that's fine. She's fine. It'll never change and Sachi can handle it this way.
Ana Ng - They Might Be Giants
'Ana Ng and I are getting old
And we still haven't walked in the glow of each other's majestic presence
Listen Ana hear my words
They're the ones you would think I would say if there was a me for you'
"Lets go out tonight," Soichiro says, cell phone wedged between his neck and shoulder. "I might be able to get out of work early today, and it's been ages since we've done anything. Aizawa was telling me about a restaurant he went to called Soukyuu…it's supposed to be good, and it's cheap enough, so would you like to check it out? Call me back and let me know, okay Sachiko?" And he ends the call, clicks it off and gets called in to for an international conference. The famous L intends to speak to them, he forgets all about his plans. When Sachi calls back he says "listen, I'm sorry, I just can't. I have work."
Better Man - Pearl Jam
'She lies and says she's in love with him, can't find a better man...
She dreams in color, she dreams in red, can't find a better man...'
Every morning Sachiko sees her daughter flounce out the door, pretty and thin and looking just like she did at her age. She's proud of spawning something so lithe and lovely, but pride doesn't prevail, not really. Instead she's jealous, wishing she were still that beautiful, that young and that able to change things. She will never find anyone else but Soichiro. She loved him once and he treats her well, but he hasn't been a husband to her, it makes sense with his work and all, but this is a marriage, they haven't had sex in months. But there's no one else and she'll keep saying she loves him, coax the kernel of feeling she still has into something real.
Miss Gradenko - The Police
'Don't tell the director I said so
But are you safe, Miss Gradenko?'
"We've known from the beginning that this case is dangerous. People have died. It may be too late to back out at this point, but consider it. Think about yourselves and think about your families. We are all targets. So please consider this carefully and come back to me." Soichiro says this knowing that there's no way anybody's leaving, it's just a test to ensure the taskforce's loyalty. Ryuzaki would have approved. He knows they'll never quit but he wishes Aizawa would, that he'd protect his wife and kids because then at least someone's family will stay safe. His own daughter's missing, his wife could be next and Light's leading this. He's crazed over Sayu, Sachiko wants to kill him and he'll probably quit or kill himself if something happens to her too.
It shouldn't matter so much. He's supposed to be professional. But it does.
Stand By Your Man - Dixie Chicks
'Stand by your man
Give him two arms to cling to
And something warm to come to
When the nights are cold and lonely'
He has a three-hour break, a reward and a reprieve for bringing Sayu safely home. And he's sure that for this his wife will leave him, he has brought her back but the fact that she's been put through this is more than enough. Their son has already been lost to this, sucked into the Kira case, accused and ruined and Sachiko doesn't know but she senses it. Every word she says makes him think that she will leave him, he avoids her and he stays at work but here's this three hour break. He's at home. And he finally says it.
"No," Sachiko says, small hand stroking his large one. "No I'm not going to leave you. I've stuck it out this long, and I love you, so I won't. Don't worry about it; just get us out of here. Please."
In Loving Memory - And Then I Turned Seven
'This wasn't how it's supposed to be.
(In loving memory)
And now I'm torn in misery.
(In loving memory)
I won't forget you please don't leave.
(In loving memory)'
"Your husband was killed," says a voice like hornets and white noise, a hand's on her shoulder and she shrugs it away, whoever this is has got no right to touch her. They are lying. He's working still, an automaton far away from her, but no, God no, he isn't dead. "He was shot," the voice says and no, no, no, she will not accept this NO!
But she does. She has no choice because she's not insane, she's stuck in reality whatever she may want. All she can do is gather her memories, gather her strength, prepare for a funeral and pray that the voice has lied.

Date: 2007-03-10 10:50 pm (UTC)I like the text of "Stand by your man" the best. Did you read the manga up until then? Cos' that conversation really kind of happens once, after Sayu's been kidnapped and all (ah Mello, you badass XD *hugs*). I found that so absolutely endearing :D
And the text you wrote for the last song was really sad. ._. Sachiko is really one to pity, she's lost so much due to
her darned son's God complexthe Kira case... I've always hoped for her to find her happiness again after the end of the manga. *wipes nose* I really like her <3 ... as you might've figured out already XD;Um... are you, by any chance, planning on doing something like that for other neglected DN characters? Sayu, for example? <3~ I SO love her <3~ I shall be eternally grateful if (only IF, and only if it fits the storyline of course ^^" I don't want to talk you into anything) you COULD make her appear more in "Kids"? <3 ... XD Sorry ^^"Um yeah, so long. ^_^ *downloads the songs*
Btw, I'm Dayari from FF.net XD The one who never manages to keep up with "Kids". XD~ *ded* Sorry for stalking tho' ^^"no subject
Date: 2007-03-12 03:14 pm (UTC)I'm really glad you enjoyed this. It was one of my more difficult projects. I love the Yagami parents, both of them, and I thought I should do some kind of fandom penance for what I'm doing in my fanfic. XD I would like to do more fanmixes, but my next one's probably going to be for another fandom, Fruits Basket...maybe I'll try a Sayu one, if I can come up with anything. I don't know how much she'll be in Kids...she'll definitely be in it, don't worry. I'll keep in mind that you want her in more, I love her too, so it shouldn't be too hard.
I've read up to Volume 9 of the manga, and I did base the drabble for Stand By Your Man off the conversation they had...if I hadn't seen that, my guess would be that she'd leave him, honestly. But one must stay true to canon! And yeah, Sachiko goes through hell and back because of that whole thing...I think she's the only one who doesn't die, isn't she? o.o;
Hope you like the music, and have a great day! *waves*

Date: 2007-03-13 07:02 pm (UTC)I think the most fitting song of all is "Summer of '69" by Bryan Adams. (Oh, how I love it. ^^ My choir once did an a cappella version of it, so awesome!) Because it has this kind of "love is forever" atmosphere that I always associate with Soichiro and Sachiko. Usually I don't like pairings with so "old" people, I prefer pairings and fanfictions with people in my age - but I just have a thing for those two. ^^; Because I think that from the very beginning of the manga until the very end, the love between them is an almost tangible thing. Sachiko seems to support Soichiro so much, just by being there at home waiting for him, the person he could always come back to. Awww ♥ *gets all teary-eyed* XD
And wow, you know Fruits Basket~! I love that fandom o_o; Is that young Akito on your icon? *spazzes out* I adore Akito XD I've not really read the entire manga, though. German publishers are so slow sometimes >.>
And I'm glad Sayu will be in "Kids"! I don't really know why, but I just love her. I often wonder what's going on in her mind - cos' she cannot feel just simple admiration for her brother, there has to be some jealousy here 'n there, because every normal human being would probably be jealous as hell if the parents always talked about how smart their other kid is, without really paying attention to "the other one". Thanks in advance for making her appear more~! ♥
Yes, I guessed so when I saw the drabble. "Stand by your man" is great, btw! I love the Dixie Chicks. I don't like that kind of music usually, but they just rock :D And no, I think Sayu doesn't die too. But aside from that, yes, pretty much everyone dies. But aw, you must finish reading the manga some time! It's really great. It's so hard to keep up with sometimes though, because of all the masterminds in there >.> *is stupid*
Thanks!! I actually had a great day, despite one hell of a difficult test I had to write this morning, from 10am till 1pm. Writing nonstop for 3 hours is bad *bandages wrist XD*, and having piano lessons in the evening with aching hands is bad too *bandages the other wrist* But all in all, the day was great because I got a new piece to play on the piano~! Aw, music. *wipes nose* XD I hope your day was good, too!!

Date: 2007-03-14 06:20 am (UTC)Yeah, Furuba was my obsession before Death Note. I loved the hell out of it for four years, and I fangirled Akito harder than anything. I've not read the entire manga either, just up to 15, but I don't love what I've heard about later volumes. And I don't love what they've done to Akito's motivations. In general, while the manga is awesome, the anime is what captured my fangirling heart. I wrote a ton of fic for FB back when I was really into it, and I've made some AMVs recently.
That whole thing sounds like it was really hard on your hands! XD Hope you did okay on the exam, and I hope piano-ing was at least fun, if painful. I used to play piano when I was little, but we ran out of money for lessons, and I was honestly more interested in making up stories to go along with the music than actually playing it. ^^; My family's got a lot of musical talent in it, but I've not got any. Oh well! I can write, I think, so that's something.
(By the way, I am trying to write a Ryuk/Sayu one-shot right now. At the request of another Kids reader. If you wanna check that out when it's done...I have no clue if it'll be even remotely good, but it's got Sayu in it? XD I think I was asked because I do crack. My friend wants me to write Light/Matsuda, and another friend wants me to write L/Light. XD;;)

Date: 2007-03-15 10:43 pm (UTC)Furuba is gorgeous! I can't remember how many volumes I read though. I believe I read up until the point where some... um... "secret" about Akito was revealed. I remember being so absolutely floored that I stopped reading the manga back then XD; I shall try and catch up on it though, when I have more time. ^^;
Aw, AMVs are the best! *g* What kind of program do you use, by the way? Because I'm considering making a Death Note AMV at the moment, and I need to decide which of the programs I
illegallydownloaded I'll use. ^^;And thank you~! ^_^ My hands are fine again, they're quite used to being overworked due to me randomly deciding to practice the piano for 3 hours during the day just because of some awesome sheet music I found online or got from my also really awesome teacher. ^^; Aw, I love music, especially piano music AND playing the piano myself, of course! *hehe* I'm glad to hear about the musical talent in your family, too! It must be awesome to be surrounded by such people XD; Sadly, my mother (who also plays/used to play the piano) isn't so interested in the piano anymore, so I'm kind of the only one playing it here. But I have a few friends who love making music too, so I'm not totally alone or something XD;
And you think right if you think you can write! =P Awesomely so, if I may say that *hehe* Aw, I still remember how "Kids" pwned the brain out of me when I read it for the first time *wipes away tears of nostalgia* XD I remember having been like WTF when I saw the pairing - I mean, Sachiko/L? Who does that? XD; None but you, I think, but it was that unusualness that finally made me read it. And then, after the first few sentences, I discovered that it was so absolutely gorgeous, and my brain, despite having really many Biology assignments, decided to get hooked ^^;
Sayu/Ryuk~! This WILL be a must-read for me *hehe* I like both of them very much, so together they'll be hilarity itself~! And Light/Matsuda and L/Light sound awesome too! Do you support yaoi, by the way? Because I do, like hell (kind of XD), and thus I'm especially looking forward to these. :P Please notify me if you have written them, okay? I'll be eternally grateful~ Because I almost never get the chance to check for new Death Note fic on FF.net - school is so killing my free time XD; I think Livejournal is the only place I manage to hang out at without being reminded of my homework all the time. ^^;
So long~ =) Oh, and if you need more crack requests, I'll also try to come up with a few if you want! ;P

Date: 2007-03-15 10:46 pm (UTC)And another "by the way" XD, who is your favorite character in Death Note, if I may ask? Because I discovered that a lot of people like a lot of different persons, and I'd like to hear your preferences! =)

Date: 2007-03-16 02:49 am (UTC)It's nice to find another Furuba fan, especially one who likes Death Note too! The...secret...about Akito...it destroyed my brain back when I was really obsessed. I am not fond of manga!Akito, but NOT because of said secret. That didn't exactly THRILL me, but it's more that I don't respect her motivations, where I did respect his. All in all it's great though. I'm getting into again now...fangirling Yuki for some reason. XD
My family is more into drumming and guitar and singing than anything like the piano. My stepdad is in a bunch of bands, right now mostly ska and zydeco, my sister used to play drums and my stepbrother plays guitar. (My sister's moved onto drawing and knitting, both of which she's awesome at.) I hope your mom finds something else she likes as much as she did piano!
About yaoi, I like it, but it really depends how it's done. I don't like the whole 'smashing two hot male characters together 'cause it's hot' thing...normally I'm not so fond of L/Light, I don't think I'll write it. My friend likes it, though. I MAY, because I'd want to try and do it PROPERLY, but I have so many other things I wanna do. I tend to like het a little better, but I definitely like me some yaoi if it's well done. =D My favorite character is probably L (okay, definitely, I fangirl him so hard), which is weird for me because I don't normally like main characters. Matsuda, Sachiko, Sayu, and Misa are awesome too. (One day I will write L/Misa, damn it. XD) Light/Matsuda I'll probably do. Hmm...I dunno, it really depends on what I have time for, I have loads of work too, and I want to do Kids as well as I can without starting a million other projects! XD But it's good to have ideas on the backburner. If you have any ideas, send 'em my way, I'll try! Who's your favorite character, by the way?
Talking to you is fun! Do you have AIM? I'm SunMoonAndSpoon, so if you wanna talk sometime that'd be awesome!

Date: 2007-03-17 01:23 pm (UTC)Oh yes. It sure was brain-destroying. It pretty much killed my want to continue with the manga x_x; And I just resorted to loving the anime even more. And Yuki is awesome! My favorite character - aside from Akito - is Kyo, though. ^_~
My mum also knits a lot, and she likes sewing (I almost typed "sawing" ^^). She always knits scarves and really warm jackets for me, it's so awesome to have someone in your family who can do that! XD
Cos' you get clothes for free.And we're singing in a choir together, and also sing a lot at home together with my dad - German canons and all that kind of stuff. ^^; Singing is absolute love, especially together with others. ;)It's good that you like yaoi! I was afraid you didn't, as I always am when I get to know new people, because I love it so much. XD L and Light are really cool together I think, because if they ever had a relationship like that, it'd be more like a battle or something *hehe* L/Misa FTW! Or rather, crack FTW =D I shall be looking forward to all of your other works, as well as to chapter 7 of Kids! (Aww, I can't wait XD *jumps up and down* I read it again just now, and yay, I SO LOVE it~! You probably hear that every day, but I really mean it! ^_^
My favorite character is Mello. I just adore him! XD I so knew he was going to become my favorite character ever since his very first appearance in the manga. That adorable, demented freak XD *hugs* (Ah, in case you don't know who he is... *points to icon*) I drew him
and Near, awww *hugs*several times, just because I so love him ^^;Yay, I also really enjoy talking to you~! ^_^ But I don't have AIM, I only have ICQ and MSN... do you happen to have any of these? It'd be such fun if we could chat! *hehe*
